India’s Harnaaz Sandhu is the Miss Universe 2021. She won the title 21 years after Lara Dutta won the crown in 2000. She was crowned by previously reigning Miss Universe Andrea Meza from Mexico. Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira is the first runner up while South Africa’s Lalela Mswane is the second runner up. Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta congratulated Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz Sandhu, in a heartfelt note.
Sandhu, a 21-year-old model, tops a field of some 80 contestants in a pageant that was touched by politics and the pandemic.
Miss Universe 2021 was the 70th Miss Universe pageant, held on December 12, 2021, at Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel. Andrea Meza of Mexico crowned Harnaaz Sandhu of India as her successor at the end of the event. This is India’s first victory in 21 years, and its third in the history of the pageant.
The competition featured the return of Steve Harvey as host and Fox as the official broadcaster of the show after being absent for the previous edition.
